Arturo Vidal’s time at Barcelona may have been short, lasting just two seasons, but he certainly left his mark.
In his two-year stint, Vidal played over 90 matches for the Catalan club. The Chilean midfielder joined Barcelona from Bayern Munich during the 2018/19 season.
However, by the end of the 2019/20 season, he departed for Inter Milan in a modest transfer valued at just €1 million.
Despite this short tenure, Vidal embraced Barcelona’s playing philosophy wholeheartedly and has remained a devoted Barça supporter ever since.
Mocking Real Madrid
An example of Vidal’s enduring love for Barcelona emerged recently on social media. Following Barcelona’s impressive 4-0 victory in the latest El Clasico, Vidal posted a video that subtly celebrated his former team’s triumph over Real Madrid.

In the video, Vidal is seen driving with the song “Conteo” by Don Omar playing in the background, a song that counts up with “one, two, three, four…”—a clear nod to Barça’s four goals in the match.
Throughout his career, Vidal has faced Real Madrid 16 times with teams like Juventus, Bayern Munich, Inter, and Barcelona. His record in these encounters stands at four wins, four draws, and eight defeats.
He was even sent off twice in these games for receiving a second yellow card. Interestingly, while at Barcelona, his record against Real Madrid was positive, with three wins, two draws, and only one loss.
He also made a memorable impact by scoring a goal during Barcelona’s emphatic 5-1 victory over Real Madrid on matchday 10 of the 2018/19 La Liga season.
Since his departure from Barcelona in 2020, Vidal’s football journey has taken him through various clubs.
He went on to play for Inter Milan before moving to Flamengo in Brazil, followed by a stint with Athletico Paranaense. Currently, Vidal plays in his home country, representing Colo Colo in the Chilean Primera Division.
