The rumour mill has been buzzing with speculations about the future of FC Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo.
The Uruguayan international has emerged as a priority transfer target for Juventus, who are in the market for defensive reinforcements after serious injuries to Gleison Bremer and Juan Cabal.
Araujo, as such, has been identified as the priority target, with the player himself said to be open to the idea of the switch with contract talks at Barça not progressing as planned.
Juventus, as per reports, have had an opening bid turned down and are expected to return with an improved offer worth around €50 million in the coming days.
Juventus director addresses speculations
Amidst the rumours, Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli has addressed the club’s interest in acquiring Ronald Araujo as well as PSG forward Randal Kolo Muani.

Calling the duo very good players, Giuntoli insisted that the Bianconeri hope to have good news next week as far as new signings are concerned, dropping a major hint about the transfers.
“Ronald Araujo and Randal Kolo Muani are two very good players. We hope to have good news next week in terms of new signings,” said Giuntoli, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.
Earlier today, Barcelona manager Hansi Flick played down the rumours linking Araujo with an exit, stating that he wishes to keep hold of the 25-year-old defender.
However, with contract talks not progressing and the club seeking to reinforce the squad this month with a new forward, the likelihood of a departure for the Uruguayan international is quite high. And Giuntoli’s comments are only likely to further fuel the speculations.
