Learn moreThe Quince Bamboo Sheet keeps me cool throughout the night — even though I sleep hot.Kinsley Searles/Business InsiderAs a hot sleeper, I'm used to finding my sheets and blankets tossed to the side in the morning. It's a universal truth that there's nothing worse than waking up to find the sheets twisted around after an all-night battle of trying to stay cool.As I've delved into the best sheets, I'd always been intrigued by bamboo sheets. I've frequently heard bamboo sheets can keep even the hottest sleepers cool, so I was curious to try for myself, landing on the Quince Bamboo Sheet Set, an affordable viscose option available in 11 colors that tops our list of the best bamboo sheets and has a lengthy year-long trial. After months of use, I can firmly say that these sheets have changed how I sleep. Read on for my full review of the Quince Bamboo Sheet Set, including details like comfort, durability, and value.Design and materialsThe Quince Bamboo Sheet Set includes bed-making tags, which helps me figure out which side is which when I make the bed.Kinsley Searles/Business InsiderThe Quince Bamboo Sheet Set is made of viscose of bamboo, which is a fibrous material derived from raw bamboo. Quince touts the material as organic (but unlike cotton or wool, there is no official certification) but is OEKO-TEX certified, meaning that it's not made with any harsh chemicals. It is also hypoallergenic.Design wise, the sheet set has a 300-thread count and a silky sheen that stays over time. The fitted sheet fits mattresses up to 16-inches. The fitted sheet has bed making tags to make it easier to identify the top from the sides. The Quince Bamboo Sheet Set is available in 11 neutral, earthy colors ranging from terracotta to charcoal. I have the eucalyptus shade, which while a bit more gray than I hoped, still fits well in my soothing blue-and-green bedroom. You can choose to get a set with or without a flat sheet. I typically don't sleep with a flat sheet — a highly divisive practice among our team that seems like a crime, according to our senior sleep reporter who is very pro-top sheet — so I chose the set with a fitted sheet and two pillowcases. Going this route will save you about $30, but after feeling how soft and cooling these sheets are, I wish I had spent a little extra to get the full set.Our review of the Quince Bamboo Sheet SetComfort and DurabilityI expected bamboo sheets to be slick and slippery, so I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered that they are actually ridiculously soft. The material feels like a worn-in cotton t-shirt or a very light flannel. While my old cotton sheets hadn't added much to my sleep experience, I found myself looking forward to snuggling into bed every night when I started using the Quince Bamboo Sheet Set.Despite having the feel of warmer material like jersey, Quince's bamboo sheets are incredibly cooling. I sleep hot, and sometimes wake in the middle of the night drenched in sweat. Now, though, I very rarely wake up because I am overheating. These sheets are cool to the touch and maintain their cooling capabilities throughout the night, so you aren't smothered in your own body heat. Plus, the pillowcases feel so nice against your face and stay cool as you fall asleep. In terms of durability, I've noticed that the sheets and pillowcase are fairly thin, which means that they don't have that high-quality, thick feel. They are also prone to minor pilling and loose threads. Even so, I have not noticed any major damage or tearing, which is impressive in my household. Because my dog enjoys scratching at blankets and sheets when he gets the zoomies, we've been through countless sheet sets that he's accidentally completely torn through. The Quince Bamboo Sheet Set has held strong against his sharp nails and abundance of energy.CareThe Quince Bamboo Sheet Set can be washed on the gentle cycle.Kinsley Searles/Business InsiderThe Quince Bamboo Sheet Set is machine washable and follows standard care requirements: wash with cold water and tumble dry on low. I haven't noticed any shrinkage after washing.I have seen some torn threads after washing, but otherwise the sheets are holding up well.I've found that these sheets stain easily. I spilled some distilled water on the bed while filling up my CPAP machine, and there is still a noticeable water mark on the sheets. It's also been difficult to wash out mud stains from when my dog jumped on the bed after going outside in the rain.ValueCompared to competitor brands like Cozy Earth's Bamboo Sheet Set or Cariloha's Classic Bamboo Bed Sheet Set, the Quince Bamboo Sheet Set represents a great value for quality bamboo sheets and is a fraction of the cost. Quince also offers free 365-day returns, so if they don't fit your needs, you can send it back at no cost. Just be sure that you keep the original packaging like tags and boxes to ensure that your return will be accepted.Cons to considerThis sheet set is prone to staining, which can be a problem if you have a rowdy pet like I do. If you look closely, you'll also notice some small torn threads in the fitted sheet.Kinsley Searles/Business InsiderWhile minor, I did notice some small torn threads when testing the Quince Bamboo Sheet Set. They're on the thinner side, but this doesn't seem to affect their durability. They also stain easily, so keep that in mind if you're a fan of breakfast-in-bed and all the spill risks that includes. And, if you're a wiggly sleeper like I am, you could have problems with the corners coming off the bed at night. While the Quince Bamboo Sheet Set was much better than other sheets I've used, especially with the help of bed sheet suspenders, I'm still in search of a fitted sheet that will stay stable despite my best efforts.Plus, you'll want to keep in mind that these sheets are cooling, so they're not the best fit for people who sleep cold. If you're looking for something warmer, you might like a material like flannel. I recommend checking out our guide to the best flannel sheets. What are your alternatives? The Cozy Earth Bamboo Sheet set is an excellent choice for premium bamboo sheets.Cozy EarthIf you're looking to truly splurge on bamboo sheets, we love the Cozy Earth Bamboo Sheet Set. This sheet set is responsibly sourced, so you can feel good about how your bedding is made. They have a deeper pocket that can fit mattresses up to 20 inches deep and are backed by a 10-year warranty against pilling and abnormal rips. The resort-focused brand Cariloha also makes what we consider to be the softest bamboo sheets, thanks to a twill-weave design. For an option under $100, we recommend the Bampure Bamboo Sheet Set. These affordable bamboo sheets have thick elastic that keeps the fitted sheet snugly in place on your mattress, but are available in fewer colors with a shorter trial period. For cooling sheets made from a different material than bamboo, the Sijo AiryWeight Eucalyptus Sheets are the best cooling sheets on the market. Made from eucalyptus fibers, these sheets stay remarkably cool, even in the warmer months. The two fabrications are very similar in feel, durability, and temperature regulation, but eucalyptus can be considered an even more sustainable option as its production creates less waste. The bottom lineIf you find yourself trying to find the cool side of the pillow all night, you'll be pleasantly surprised to find that all sides of the Quince bamboo pillow cases are cool.Kinsley Searles/Business InsiderThe Quince Bamboo Sheet Set is buttery soft with incredible cooling capabilities, making it an excellent choice for hot sleepers. Even with small durability issues like loose threads and pilling, these sheets have improved my quality of sleep and made me excited to hop into bed at the end of every day.
