Boost for Barcelona as all players registered until the end of their contracts

The extension of Barcelona defender Inigo Martinez’s contract for an additional season, validated by La Liga on Tuesday, marks the latest achievement of Barcelona’s sporting department.

The unexpected revenue from the sales of players like Unai Hernandez and Vitor Roque has helped Barcelona ensure that Martinez’s new contract has been validated by the league, having previously held off on announcing his renewal due to Fair Play margin issues.

With this confirmation, the significant news for manager Hansi Flick, sporting director Deco, and club president Joan Laporta, and all Barcelona supporters is that, as of today, every player in the squad is fully registered with La Liga for the entirety of their respective contracts.

This claim comes from Mundo Deportivo, which means that next summer, none of the players will face the uncertainty of being unregistered on 1 July, a situation that previously required the club to generate financial fair play space during the transfer window to re-register them.

Martinez himself experienced this issue last summer, as he had initially been registered only until 30 June 2024.

A similar situation occurred with Dani Olmo, who missed two La Liga matches because his registration was not completed at the time of his official signing.

The Spanish international’s registration was only made possible by taking advantage of Andreas Christensen’s long-term injury.

This kind of uncertainty will no longer be a concern for the current squad next summer. It is a significant development, as Barcelona have not had this level of contract stability in the past four years.
